Virtual Heritage Open Days 2020

We are unable to host our usual Heritage Open Days on site this year, partly due to Covid 19 and partly because of the intensive building works which are currently taking place here.

Instead we will be hosting virtual Open Days, by premiering a short video at 10:15am on every morning of the festival. These films will cover different aspects of the Friends' activities and of the Flaxmill Maltings itself, including the history of the site, the current renovation works and what the future holds.

The videos are as follows:

'About the Friends of the Flaxmill Maltings', by Alan Mosley, Chair of the Friends.

'The World's First Iron Framed Building', by Richard Bonella, Friends' volunteer.

'A History of Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings', by Pete Dunhill, Friends' volunteer.

'Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings Renovation Works', by Nick Hill, National Conservation Projects Manager for Historic England.

'The Flaxmill Maltings Project', by Alastair Godfrey, Project Lead for Historic England.

'The Future for the Friends', by Marianne Blaauboer, Friends' Manager.

'The Visitor Centre', by Sarah Raper, Friends' volunteer.

'The Friends' volunteers', by Richard Benjamin, Friends' Coordinator.
